1:06p - Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...
It's been more than two weeks since my last update here. No news is good news? Busy holiday shopping? Lazy? Involved in other stuff? All of the above?

***

We almost got trapped in the Big Snow yesterday. Christmas in the Platt family means lots and lots of traveling. We got where we were going yesterday just fine, but the getting back was a bit more troublesome. One minute it was raining, and then it was a blizzard. Luckily, we got on to the roads in time to only make the drive a major hassle, not a deadly mess. Fun!

Have you heard the news? They say that this holiday season shoppers spent less than they have in the last 30 years. Gee, I wonder why? Could it have been that our leaders in government and business have betrayed us and screwed up the economy? Or could it be that everything in the stores is overpriced and poorly made?

Or gee, could it possibly be both?

Hmmm...

The GSHW anthology IN A FEARFUL STATE is now available from Shocklines, the world's best online Horror bookstore. Check it out:

I spent part of the last two weeks reading Neil Gaiman's novel AMERICAN GODS. I made the mistake of starting to read this every night when I went to bed, and I got about a page done every night. So I remedied the situation by spending a few days doing little but reading.

My verdict? Great book. Somewhat passionless -- but that's because the point-of-view main character *is* passionless, and quite possibly in shock through 99% of the book -- but quite entertaining.

It's a quiet few days at work this week. Almost no one is in the office. And yet I have too much work to do to goof off. Lucky me!

(Actually, I don't mind. I get ten times as much done when the office is quiet and empty. I'll actually be ahead by the time I get out of here tomorrow. That should help start the New Year off right.)

New Year! Time for some resolutions?

You bet, but I'm not going to actually make them in public! Then I might actually have to follow through and do them!

Big writing news on the horizon. Can't reveal it yet, but it'll be fun when it happens. Stay tuned.

Later...
