6:26p - My name is John
Have you seen that new TV show, "My Name is Earl"? The premise is simple, but fun: a guy who's done bad things all his life, and never gotten a dollar ahead, learns about karma, and sets out to do good things for other people so good things will happen to him. And indeed, they do.
Why do I bring this up? Well, something very similar happened to me today.
We all know what Mondays can be like, right? It sure is easy to be grumpy on a Monday. And it sure is easy to be grumpy at work. But today, I woke up and I said to myself, "Self, I'm going to be in a great mood all day."
And from that moment on, I was in a fantastic, happy mood. Heck, I even had fun at work.
And you know what happened to me after a day of being in a good mood for no reason?
I got a reason to be in a good mood.
Yes, I just got word that Flesh & Blood Magazine has accepted my poem, "The Stray," to appear in an issue early next year.
And so I am justifiably happy.
Will this lead me to be in a good mood all the time?
Nah. No use pushing my luck. Besides, if I start showing up with a smile on my face all the time, folks will get suspicious.
But I'll keep this good mood going for a few more hours all the same.
